Neighbourhood Week Activities for Harris Park 23rd September – 27th September 2013.

Background
Neighbourhood Week is an opportunity to focus on the local community and connect them with their neighbourhood services. During Neighbourhood Week we highlight the outstanding services that the local community/health and emergency Services provide to their local communities. Harris Park Community Centre is keen to lead a project during Neighbourhood Week that will increase the social capital of this area.

Where: James Ruse Reserve Parkes St Harris Park
Activity: Learn to ride a bicycle 10am to 12pm
Activity: Heritage ride through Harris Park 12pm to 2pm
Purpose: Learn to ride for a healthier life and enjoy the freedom of avoiding traffic.

Activity: Bush Tucker Workshop 10am – 11pm
Activity: Children’s activity at the community garden 11pm to 12pm
Where: John Irving Park Community Garden Jordan St Rosehill
Purpose: Learn about indigenous plants what to grow and how to eat them
Date: Wednesday 25th September 2013 10am to 12pm
Activities: Ultimate Frisbee
Where: Robyn Thomas Reserve crn Hassall St and Parkes St Harris Park
Purpose: Children’s activity designed to enjoy the open space, have fun with other children.
Date: Wednesday 25th September 2013 Community Expo 1pm to 4pm
Activities: Include BBQ, and information stalls, children’s activities
Where: James Ruse Reserve Parkes St Harris Park
Purpose: promote all services to the general public in an interactive way
Date: Thursday 26th September 2013 2pm to 3.30pm
Purpose: Highlighting the historical value of the local area, showcasing the facilities and museums of Experiment Farm Cottage and Hambledon Cottage including children’s activities.
Where: Meet at Experiment Farm Cottage, 9 Ruse Street, Harris Park,
Activity: Explore Harris Park’s historical cottages, with a short stroll to Hambledon Cottage, Gregory Place Harris Park, and then back to enjoy Devonshire tea in the beautiful surrounds of Experiment Farm Cottage.
Activity: Children’s colonial farming, gardening and games

Where: Harris Park Community Centre
Purpose: Providing an opportunity for the community to visit the centre and meet other community members, and enjoy a light supper.
Activity: Open House at Harris Park Community Centre, winner of photo competition announced, Parramatta City Choir, Guest Speaker
